A CHAPTER
Kisses!!! Good byes!!! Smiles on the
lips and tears rolling down the eyes…….
There comes a day in every parent’s
life when their child starts going to school. All instructions given along with
pamper and love. The little ones are groomed in school uniform, ID card, with a
water bottle, napkin. Parents are sceptical how their child would react when
they leave their child’s hand and hand them over to the teachers in school,
when the gates close, when they are out of their sight.
The school is new to them - the walls,
the chairs, the tables all new. The child is happy to see the new environment,
new faces, new activities and new friends. The child completes the day and it’s
time to return home. The child is happy and returns with a smile having loads
to share with the parents. The parents eagerly waiting outside the school
gates, eager to know all that happened and a non -ending chat goes on and on
with the routine of school life.
15 years pass and you face a similar
scenario once again. Smiles, anxiety, hope, faith along with all good wishes
and prayers……. Saying all the best, wishing good luck …….
It’s exam time. All instructions are given
along with faith and love. The students are dressed in school uniform, ID card,
with a water bottle, handkerchief and pens. Children enter a board centre and
parents wait outside, wait for those hours when their wards are out of the exam
hall. Parents are dubious how their child would perform and lead them into the
board centres. The gates close, they are out of sight.
The child gets busy with reading the
board exam paper, planning their content, recalling their knowledge and writing
at their best speeds in the best ways possible. Time’s up. Parents are waiting
eagerly outside the gates to pick up their child with leaves sanctioned. This
routine again goes on for a few days and then we bid adieu to school life.
A new
chapter begins……..
My parents were completely moved post reading this blog. Such relatable to them, it was. The way you've captured the essence of a 14-15 year-old school life in well-drafted, precise paragraphs, is simply mind-blowing!!!
